Ok I was wondering if someone could tell me why my pc keeps foing this. After about 3 hours of being on the pc restarts itself...why?! I keeps doing this and its very anoying... I didnt have this problem b4. My system is all watercooled and the temps are low so heat aint an issue. My Athlon Xp 1900+ is Unlocked but its not Overclocked yet. The last thing I did was increase my FSB to 140 which caused the windows registry to corrupt so I had to format and reinstall windows.. but now its doing this restart thing around every 3 hours.. why? thanks!

um, first, i don't know if this will apply or not, but about your corrupted windows install. 140 should be pretty safe for your hdd and your ram, so i wouldn't think it was hardware related. i had the exact same problem with win2k. either registry errors on boot, or corrupted sys files leading to a format/reinstall. big pain right? for me it was at 152+. i recently read in a bios guide, that nt based os DO NOT support hdd block mode. i know that at least on my ak31 this options was enabled by default. i had switched back to win98 because of this problem, not knowing the reason. i was able to run higher fsb's with 98 than with win2k. after reading that i disabled the option in the bios, and put win2k back on my system. now running 166 fsb for a couple days and havn't had that problem again, and believe me, i COULD NOT go over 152 with win2k before. give it a try, the hdd write speed performance hit is not even enough to notice, very worth it for stability and the higer fsb.
ok, there's a book for ya
all i know to tell you about the reboot, my system does that when the 5v rail drops to low. what psu are you using? and where's your 5v rail?

Ok well im on Water so my temps are good, and cause I know somebody will say this so ill say it now "NO my mobo thermal temp shutdown thing isnt set too low." The retarted thermal diode thinks my cpu is running at 22 C for some reason.. even thoe my compunurse, and koolance diode say its running at more like 34C.. so the mobo shutdown temp protec thing aint the prob. Oh yea and it takes me over 12hours to bring my pc back into good operation after it has to be formated (reinstall windows, reinstall all games and patch them!, install drivers, bring files back, ect.) So I realy dont want that happening again... Ill probely just ignore my fsb settings and leave them default.. Also I did run SisSandra2002 burn-in at full 100% CPU load for an hour right after it had restarted so that my temps would be as high as they would get and so the cpu was all stressed.. but when I did that the pc did NOT restart.... hhmm.. ill see if it restarts again today after load and stuff.
Sounds like a power problem to me. I had a non-OC'd system that would restart randomly like yours and turn on by itself ( ). It was a bad PSU, which I replaced. Hasn't done anything like that since.

I've had the same prob w/w2k myself. Same as you , was able to run hours of Sissandra Burn-in uneventfully. But every now and then, for no apparent reason, it'd just restart. Drove me crazy. Wound up swapping my Soyo Dragon + for an Epox 8KHA+, and the problem stopped-even though the 5v line is reported as being lower on the Epox than it was on the Soyo. All hardware and OS are exactly the same-(used the same C: drive).. I'm going to try the Soyo w/win98SE, see if that stops the problem. It may be there's something in w2k that certain MB's dislike. BTW Juliendogg, the Epox I'm running has HD Block Mode enabled by default, and it runs perfectly. I may try to get the Soyo going w/w2k again, and see if your hint works-(couldn't tell from the manual wheter or not it's enabled by default).

ok now this is starting to REALY get anoying.. Like before I was just playing a game and BOOM! it restarts!, then after I ran all sorts of realy stressfull test nothing happend.. but about an hour latter while just sittin at desktop the damn thing restarted! Then I ran a scandisk to search for everything... the one where ya gotta restart and it does it b4 it lets u enter windows.. well right after it finished scandiskin and windows started to load it RESTARTED!.. odd.. it NEVER did this b4 when I was using this board.. its only seems to be doing this after I was ocin my fsb and it corrupted my HD so I had to format and reinstall. I had aslo updated my bios on this board around the time I was ocin my FSB..hhmm anyone got any sugestions?
