when the p4s333 first came out the fastest ddr ram available was ddr333 but will it actually recognize and support faster ram such as ddr3200? or if you insert faster ram will it still only run at 333?

The RAM FSB is dependant on the CPU FSB, if you overclock your CPU you'll also push the ram speed higher. If your running at stock speeds faster memory is not going to do you much good.

thanks. i'm running a pentium 4 which has a 400 mhz fsb and and currently using ddr333 which limits my max memory speed. so i was hoping to go to ddr3000 or 3200 to use all 400 mhz. what i was wondering will the motherboard actually recongnize ram over ddr333 since in the manual it states it supports up to 333. i got a feeling i'm asking a stupid question. when i went from 266 to 333 i got about a 6% overall system speed increase, wondering if i will see any increase going to 3200.

At stock speeds the system will not recognize anything over PC2700 (166Mhz). If you put PC3000 or PC3200 ram in it, the motherboard will still run it at PC2700 speeds. If your overclocking your processor then you can push the memory speed past PC2700.

To currently get your memory up to 166 with your processor at 100 your motherboard is using a 3:5 memory multiplier. 100Mhz/3 = 33 * 5 = 166Mhz. If you upped the processor FSB to say 120Mhz then your ram would be at 200Mhz which is PC3200 speeds as long as you can still use the 3:5 memory multiplier.

hi,unless you use the p4s533 bios,it engages umda133,supposely and adds an extra ratio 4.6,which would be ddr400.

but i never tryed it,from what i read,it won't engage the sis645dx..im running the p4s533 bios on my p4s333 m.b..

this topic can be found, doing a search on the forums.or just look under intel asus m.b's`.

i don't have ddr 400,so i don't know if it really works.its supposed too work ok.my 2 cents...check around,or perhaps someone here can verify this, what changes are made, useing the p4s533 bios.ive had no problems useing it..
