Just got these up and runnin'
Xp 1600 + ( currently at 10.5 x 133/33 ) only 1400mhz:(
Asus A7V333
256 samsung Pc2760
Geforce 4 Ti 4200 128
Maxtor Ata133
using xp pro ...
I wanna run as fast as possible.....not O/C tho.....
i'm talkin about FSB!! :)

In order not to run over 1400mhz you'll need to unlock your cpu to lower your multiplier and increase your FSB to still stay at 1400mhz.
But WHY would you not want to o/c that wonderful system of yours? If you have an aroia or agoia stepping, you could probably get it over 1800mhz. You'll also need a higher clock speed to maximize your system, not just increasing the FSB to increase agp and pci bus speeds.

Increasing the speed of anything past what the manufacturer's rated spec states is overclocking :)
But you can choose to overclock the fsb and still maintain the rated speed of the cpu (at least approximately) by unlocking it and using a lower multiplier with higher fsb.
CPU speed will be the same (no oc) but the motherboard and all pci devices will be overclocked. This WILL improve system performance, but chances are good that there will be more performance available that you are not utilizing!
Since FSB ocing is more likely to cause trouble than a straight cpu overclock, I really don't understand why you want to do it- but it is definetely possible.

oooppps..i meant what's the max i can go with the setup i have??? both CPU and FSB speed???
also in bios..there's a selection of cpu performance or something " optimal or turbo ".. which should i choose??
also, how do i know if my harddrive is runnin' at 133 ???
bascially, i want my system to run at it's full potential
nothing too hardcore.......... hehehe:beer:

Well, If you dont want to OC. Then your CPU and FSB are at the proper settings for the rated 1400 mhz speed of the CPU.
Optimal and Turbo are the memory setting. Optimal is basically the normal SPD setting of the Stick of ram you are using, while Turbo is the faster setting. You can try the turbo setting, and if it does not work...go back to optimal.
If you want to make sure your HD is running ATA133, the easiest ways are to watch your bootup screen, or go into bios and see if the drive is recognized at the UDMA6 level (which is ATA133).
If you want to overclock a bit, then you can increase the FSB a bit at a time until your system goes unstable (watch your temps)
I would suggest you do a search for this info in the other threads of the forums, theres some good reading there:)
Good Luck.

maximouse/ thanks for the reply....
yeah my harddrive is runnin' at UDMA6 while "turbo " in the memory setting...... hehe thanks
