Well I'm looking at swapping in a 400W PSU. I don't want to
spend a lot of $$$$ but I don't want a POS.
Whats a good PSU that gives the most bang for the buck??
Thanks!

The TTGI power supplies over at directron.com are pretty cheap and offer pretty stable rails unless you're running a lot of hdds or are overclocking.

I've got 3 HDs, 2 raid 0 and 1 for backup, and I do overclock.
I'll give those a look though

I just went with an Antec true 430, and the volatages are holding very steady. I'm not O/C'ing yet though.

A high quality 300W PSU is better than a POS 400W PSU any day of the week.
Most people say that Enermax and Antec are high quailty. I would reccommend either one... I have an Enermax 350W.

I'd Rather shoot an enermax power supply then own one as i previously did. The power supply on 3 differen't motherboards gave me low +5 below 4.65 under load , the 3.3 was at around 3.12 , +12 was like 11.50. It was an Enermax Whisper Series 461 model (431 watts) Horrible PSU. I been using PowMAX an they are so so. I you should go for an Antech , ive heard nothing but good things about them , gona buy me one on pricewatch for around $75 with shipping . Just my 2cents.

Reticulux, my Enermax 350W seems to be very good quality. I also know many people who recommend them, and have heard many say they are just as good as Antecs.
I don't really know which one is actually better. If I were to buy another, I would prolly get an Antec, but believe that you couldn't go wron gwith getting either one. (The reason I would get an Antec is because they are American rather than Asian [Chinese I believe]).
Codeman, you made a good decision on ur purchase.-YB

I've heard bad reports about both Antec and Enermax- but more reports of Enermaxes like ReTiCuLeX's than about Antecs....
I do have an Enermax, and it serves me well. I'd buy another..
But I do think Enermax has more of a quality control problem than Antec does: an equivalent GOOD Enermax is a bit better than the Antec, I think- but you have a better chance of getting a GOOD one with Antec.
(Note: I did mod my Enermax to hit 2ghz, but it was fine up to 1900. Mod is easy if you can solder, and it gives you an adjustable 5v rail :) )
Can't go wrong with the Antec True Power 430 watt PS.

hi i am new and i am planning to overclock a 1800. i am thinking of
buying a enermax 350 whisper. do i need 400 get get optimal
performance ? is 350 quite sufficient even for possible future
upgrades after the 1800?
thanks
Antec PP412X is the best power supply if you can find it. It has adjustable pots so if your 5v rails are a tad low, you can adjust them very little and it'll boost your 5v rail. It is P4 Compliant and it simply rocks.
The True Power do not have the pot option, that's what sucks.
The only hard part is finding it.

kevinblade, i'm running a 1800+ with a 300 watt antec, and i have great voltages, the +5v is just about always at +5, antec's make really nice psus.
