Under fdisk, it ready the wrong size of my 120 gig western digital special edition. I heard there was a fix, but I don't know how to use it or where to get it. Could someone with a big hard drive explain how to make full use our of my 120 gig for a dual boot with win 98 and 2000? Thanks.
Well, i am almost certain that partition magic will see that whole drive..pm me for more info i might be able to help :).

You can download the newest version of Fdisk.exe from the following MS site...
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=KB;EN-US;Q263044& ;)
The normal version of FDISK I don't think is able to fully recognize drives that large. You could use some software BIOS solution (like EZ-BIOS ect.), but I don't know if even that would fix it.
Personally, I'd try the FDISK posted, but just in case that dosen't work...

Well I will try that fdisk first, and if it doesn't work I will fool around with partition magic. I have never used partition magic so we will see what happens.

I just went to that microsoft site and can't find where to download the latest fdisk. I downloaded something at bottome that had english after it and it installed a fix for windows. Then I created a bootdisc and it still wouldn't let me do the 120 gig so I guess that wasn't an update for fdisk. I can't find it. Any help would be appreciated.

Fdisk, make primary partition of 15 gig, format c:, install 98 or whatever, install PartitionMagic ver. 7 , create new partitions.
Partition Magic is a great program, well worth the money. It's also alot cheaper now than when I bought it..

Did any software come with the HD? WD usually ships their drives with floppys that allow you to get around this kind of problem. If not, then check the Western Digital Website for the programs and faqs.

Ok I used one of those fdisk's and it let me fdisk it to what I wanted. Then I formatted them and the format didn't show the right size. That sucks. What to do.

Try Here

Download the data lifeguard tools for drives smaller than 137 gig
There are installation instructions in it. Plus, you can email WD Tech support and they will help...their support is very good.

Not sure which route you're going, but if it's a clean install, the Window setup will recognise the drive and allow you to partition it whatever way you see fit. Then from w/in Windows (after it's loaded) you can create partitions till your heart's content.
