Hi all, Im new to these forums, I got a quick question. I have been monitoring my cpu temps for about a month now and my cpu temp was running at 50 C right at bootup and when playing games would be around 60 C but never higher then 62 C. System temps would run at 40 C on average. So after some reading , I figured I would check my heatsink(ackura) to see mabye it it was on wrong, after removing it i seen from the outline of the gel that it was not seated on the copper center it was about half way off of that, So i figured I would try putting it on the other way, then booted comp up and then it would stay on for about 10 seconds and shut down tried this several times and still same outcome. So then I turned the heatsink around again back to the orignal way it had been but this time i kinda slid the heatsink over as much as I could hoping this would center it on the cpu better. I also have 4 other fans in the computer two rear exhuast , one in the front and also one the power supply pointed directly at the cpu. Also an aluminum case for better cooling (was told this would be better) So after all being said and done I now have a cpu temp of 36 C and system temp of 40 C. Is this at all possible to have a lower cpu temp then the system or did I do somthing wrong here
?
thx in advance for any help

It is not really possible to have a lower cpu temp than the system temp on air cooling. Are these temps when your comp first boots up or loading for a while?
However, if the system temp probe is located near some hot components eg vidcard, then it might be possible as the system temp reading will be thrown off.
I am a bit ocncerned about the fan from the power supply that is blowing down onto your cpu? The puwer supply gets pretty hot in normal operations and if its taking air from itself, the air that is expelt onto your cpu will be quite warm. This doesnt help in cooling :D

I am not too sure as to where the location of the systemp probe is. I checked the ps fan and it is blowing cool air. In regards to the cpu temp it use to run at 50- 53 degrees at startup and with my current temps after playing with the heatsink is 36 - 37 with just surfing the internet not doing any gaming or nothing basicaly same temp as when i first boot up comp. Is it possible that i could have damaged the cpu temp probe by playing with the heastsink?
You better check that PSU fan again. I doubt it is blowing air onto the cpu unless you opend it up and modded it in some way. My Enermax exhausts air out the back and takes air IN at the bottom fan.
What kind of heatsink are you using?
Some of the ones that have copper cores do not work with all AMD CPUs. When installed, the copper does not completely cover the core. Check the manufacturer's website and see which CPUs it will work with.
I have a Sibak that uses a copper core and it will not work correctly with my XP1600.

me again after doing some more reading on their homepage I see that it is the right fan so mabye lazerin is correct and my system temp probe is picking up heat from another source, thanx for all the help guys
