View Full Version : Do Optical and Gaming mix?
I'm trying to decide between cords and no cords, this seems to be the best optical Keyboard and mouse available. Logitec Cordless Freedom Optical Bundle

my personal experience is cordless and gaming doesnt mix
you can feel the leg between moving the mouse and for it to show up on the screen.....
and is that the keyboard with no leds for NUM/CAP/Scrool Lock, that would drive me nuts.....
Optical and gaming do however do work well

I'm getting a qual optical wired mouse for gaming and i ordered that wireles bundle for everything else :) te logitech dual opti USB looks just like the wireles mosue seen there but it has 2 sensorsana wire.
So my best bet would be to go with a corded keyboard and optical mouse?

I use a cordless optical trackball and I think it works great for games once you get used to using it. It's great not having to move a mouse around and recentering it on a pad all the time. Just my 2 cents.
My cousin has the Logitec setup thats one step below this which doesnt have an optical mouse and the keyboard is not as fancy, but anyways I have played CS on it and didnt have any problems what so ever with mouse lag or anything. I'm not sure whether the optical mouse your thinking about would make a difference performance wise, but I have doubts that it would.

dual optical is better on rough surfaces than single optical. it is more accurate but it's not noticible accept at times where you have to work on a wooden table at a LAN party like i make sometimes. and it also has the cord so it's probably the best mouse out there with 2 sensors, USB 2.0 and no wireles lag stuff.
i have the logitech wireless optical mouse and it seems fine for gaming. I play medal of honor and don't seem to have a problem with the refresh rate problem. I'm not sure about the cordless keyboard, the cord never really seemed like a problem to me. Plus the batteries just don't last at all. Just for your information, if you do get a wireless optical mouse, maybe consider getting a mousepad like an everglide. The higher reflective properties save battery life and the surface allows for better tracking.

the desk i built for my comp has the perfect surface for an opti mouse or normal one :) don't remember what the stuff is called tho.
personally I always go for a good ball mouse, especially for gaming. I tend to flick the mouse around very fast, and every optical I've used has eventually flipped out on me. Try to flick off a railgun shot and end up shooting the sky 180degrees away from the target "WTF!!" :D :D
I have never used cordless, so I can't really comment on that. But I'm going to: from what I hear I think it would be the same problem.
