...ok guys, I just got my new video card (AOpen Aeolus Ti4200 128Mb, etc...), and I *think* I'm having some problems. My benches are kind of low for my setup, or so I'm told.
***By DEFAULT my Core/Mem frequencies are supposed to be 250/500... but because I can't use their drivers, I have to use the nVidia ones and now it's at 250/444?***
When I tried to install the drivers on the disk, it gives me an error stating that the .exe can't find any GeForce/nVidia hardware, and will hault the installation. Now, I've heard of this happening before, by users with the same card. So, I'm upset off the bat. I hit up nVidia's site, and download the latest drivers they have for Win98SE. They work, fine. I, ofcourse, bench it in 3d2k1SE, I score 9071. Not bad...?
I decided to play some UT, and turn up the goodies. Now, here's where my performance problems come in. Whenever I turn on the AA, it starts to create artifacts. It's fine w/o AA, but this was a major reason for me to buy this card. So I could run 4X AA at 1280X1024. I've tried both AOpen's, and nVidia's drivers, and none have solved the artfiacting problems. The card is fine, and everything I hoped for when I run UT <- the only game/3d app that this happens in, w/o any mode of AA enabled. But as soon as I turn on the Anti Aliasing, I get a line that goes across the top, and one across the left side. It looks like my desktop, but reversed (the top looks like the very bottom line of my toolbar, and the side looks like my wallpaper). I haven't given the 40s a chance, because I'm currently on Win98SE. I have a copy of XP due to me in the mail Monday. If I still have the problems Monday, after a format and fresh install of WinXP, the card is going back.
If I find out anything else, I'll update my post.
