I just plugged my computer into the tele to see what it would look like...it looked crap on desktop decent in games...
plugged it back into my monitor and after the winXP splash it goes black...I would of thought it auto detects what display is being used (like when I plugged it into the tele) and carry on as normal...but obviously a video setting has been changed in xp which is refusing it to display on my monitor :S
anyone got any ideas - im tempted to reinstall as I cant be bothered plugging it back into the tele...

Boot in safe mode
There is usually a setting that you have to change everytime you want to use the tv with your computer. Usually under properties-settings-advanced. I don't know where to go from there. I have an ATI card but if yours is the same or close to it there should be a displays where you can select which screen you want to use and make the displays primary or secondary and so on. But it is a setting somewhere, so try changing it using your tv. I know it's hard to read, so just sit close to it.
properties--> settings--> advanced--> Nview.
Also if you don't have an HDTV, you may want to set your resolution to 800X640 when using a T.V.

This is exactly why I recommend scan converters instead of TV-out.
TV-out requires both devices to be connected in order to make the switch in the driver settings.

Turn on Nview and use the desktop manager.
