What operating system do you have? And do you have the latest version of the drivers and DirectX?

I'd try flashing the bios. It may clear the problem up. Couple more uestions. Is your system overclocked? Are you absolutely certain that it's the graphics card that is causing the lock ups? I'm pretty sure it is, but in general I never rule out any possibility. I've seen too many weird things, that cause systems to not function properly. Oh yeah, forgot to mention something...

I would say this could be a driver issue.I have not tried the games yyou mentioned but it might be worth visiting the games website to see if there is a patch for it. Also you dont say what the problem actually is (error message, system crash, screwy visuals etc) as that will help diagnose the problem.
Let me know.

You could try DxDiag to see if there is any problems with your display drivers and and other gaming related items.
I'm assuming you are a total noobie so forgive me if i sound patronsing.
click START > RUN and type "dxdiag", it will tell you if something isnt working right.
These forums have been a big help to me, and almost everyone- i'm sure we wont let you down... WELCOME TO THE FORUM

hi thanks for the reply
i have just tried dxdiag and all seems okay there
could it be the driving value needs setting in the bios differently
also if i turn off fast write i think it is in the bios i have no problem with 3d mark but the games still dont work

i know the a9 for the version 1.0 has a fix for the gf4 tixx00 cards so i am assuming that the 1.3' latest version has this as well.

I'd:
Flash your mobo BIOS to the latest version.
Install lastest mobo drivers
Use Detonater Destroyer from www.guru3D.com and delete all trace of existing drivers.
Install fresh set of drivers (30.82's?)
In your BIOS, set AGP to 4*, aperture to 128MB, sidebanding and fastwrites off.
If that doesn't clear the problem, get back to us:)

i think it is the 4* agp option in the bios as i managed to get it working by booting the bios in safe mode
will need to check further
any idea how much performance will be lost by disabling the 4* agp
