Temp Problems w/ Watercooling an AXIA

HI,

I just installed my watercooling kit yesterday. I have a 1.33 AXIA Bird. Im running the chip at 1550, and under full load it goes up to 49c. The setup I have is an Eheim 1048 pump, maze1 waterblock, chipset cooler, going to a radiator which is 4x12". Why are my temps so high? Im using regular faucet water, with about 5% waterwetter.

what voltage are you using?

The bird at that speed gets EXTREMELY hot. Your radiator might not be dissipating the heat adequately. Just because your rad. is gig, doesn't mean it's any good. I have a 12x5 tranny cooler, but it is only 5 pass. You need something that will keep the water in the radiator for a longer period of time, such as a 7+ pass radiator. The Danger Den cooling cube is pretty good and so is the OCWC "Big Moma"

Also, don't use tap water in the system. For many reasons, use distilled water, especially if your cooling components are aluminum and copper.

I am using a hayden transmission cooler for a Rad. Should the water be flowing in this order - pump -> resevoir -> chipset cooler -> cpu cooler -> radiator? is the eheim 1046 sufficient?

starts out at reservior, goes through pump and onto the cpu first, then to the chip, through the radiator and back to the reservior. (do your self a favor and get a better rad or add a second one so the water is pre-cooled before the cpu and cooled right after the cpu)

What Rad do you recommend? I dont want to spend more then 50.

I reseated the block, and added distilled water, and now my temps at full load are at 46c. It's an improvement, but still kind fo high. I'm waiting for the maze2 block, to come in. I'm also thinking of upgrading my fans.

get one from an auto store, they work reallly well. Trans fluid and heater radiators are better.

The only way you will know for sure whats going on is if you monitor the water temp. I use a cheap (bout 12 bucks) thermomitor from radio shack. It has a led display and a remote sensor that I dropped into the reservior, which in my case is a top loading freezer with over 12 gallons of water/antifreeze :)

definately put that cpu first. Ideally this is what it would be

pump-->resevoir-->radiator-->cpu cooler-->chipset and then back. That will have the coolest water in the water jacket.
