I believe that's my chip in the subject line, I was just reading about this chip (I got the system yesterday, mwahha), and I see that people haev overclocked the hell out of this thing with no problems.

I haven't overclocked a system since my Pentium 166MMX, so, could someone here please give me a hand? Thanks!

Jason

give those threads a bit of reading. if you have further questions just ask :)

a list of the rest of the parts in your system would help greatly.

oh and Welcome to da Forums :D

Need to know what motherboard you have. If that 1.6 CPU is a Northwood (512k cache and 1.5v default voltage), then it'll run an easy 133 FSB guaranteed. Most will even do 2.4 gig with better cooling and maybe just a little voltage increase.

http://www.intel.com/design/motherbd/rg/ <-- my motherboard.

Builtin nic/sound.. doesnt seem like there's a lot of jumpers, and the bios doesn't let me configure much.. I think there is a jumper though that will let me into another configuration section of my bios? Please confirm someone.

Thanks!!

uhoh... that board is not overclockable. lemme guess this is a dell system or something like that?

I didn't think it was overclockable, however there is an option to get into an initial (oem?) config section for the bios, and I'm going to try that..

Yeah, kinda like a dell, 'Seanix', and it's actually a full tower.. :O

Dolen, There is a way to overclock to FSB133, even with Intel motherboards. You are looking at 133fsb x 16 multiplier = 2133.33MHz only. P4NW-1.6A has good chance of running at 133FSB even at default voltage 1.50V.

You must find a way to insulate / cover BSEL0 pin. You could cover it with Non-Conductive paint ( i don't know the exact materials, maybe nail polish? epoxy?). Not too thick please, he...he...he... I tell you know.... it's very difficult to paint it.

If at 133fsb does not boot or not stable, you need to increase cpu voltage by VID PINNING technique (see Intel CPU Forums for more explaination). The easiest is VID PIN at 1.70V or 1.65V. Get Intel Datasheet before modifying, and always locate and mark PIN1. Go here to get the idea of VID Pinning:

so I can just stop a single pin from conducting and I'm at fsb133?
How can I find out which pinthis is?

Here, take a look:

*now to find something to cover it with*

Hi!
I am new here... but are you saying that with eliminating the electrical contact between the 'blue marked' pin of this last image and the Socket 478, my CPU is seen by the system like a 133 FSB CPU?????

check sig for my 1.6a speeds...all at stock voltage

I can't believe it!
Really?
Please confim it: if I isolate the blue marcked pin showed in this (http://forum.oc-forums.com/vb/attachment.php?s=&postid=1033239) image, even removing it by cutting it, will EVERY based 100mhz FSB P4 run at 133mhz FSB??????

Please tell me if this is true!!! Thank you.

Yep its true! Also you can increase the vCore by using the trick mentioned above if your system is not stable at 133FSB...as long as your mobo supports 133FSB you will be fine...

This is great!!
Thank yuo very much guys.

And about the BD7-II Vmem bios mod? Any help?

just a note... you don't need to do that modification to run fast.

i haven't done it to mine and just look where i'm at :D

edit: doh. forgot i changed my sig.
