Im frying my brain trying to work out what the best ram would be for my mobo (KR7A-non raid version)
I know the KR7A accepts PC2100 and PC2700, obviously 2700 is better, but there are other things to take into consideration like cas L etc.
Basically, can someone tell me what they're using so I dont end up buying the wrong mem. I only want to spend around 100 bux, and i guess i need like 512 MB right?

hey there nan0_man, I have the same mobo as you do. I had been using crucial pc2100 ( 3 sticks @ 256mb each ). I recently replaced those with corsair pc2700, xms 2700 cas2. I went with 1 stick @ 512mb. I was pleased with the crucial, but I am very happy with the crucial. I am able to run my unlocked athlon 2000 xp @ 1730mhz, 11 x 157 fsb. I have been able to run my cpu @ 1840, but @ 1730 I'm able to run the corsair at ultra and all aggressive settings. Thought about going with pc3000 or pc3200 but thoght it would be over-kill for this mobo, even though those sticks are backward compatible. Hope this info will be helpful.

:D that's is correct. Again, I was able to run those sticks at aggressive settings. One thing I might also add is you may have to bump up the DDR voltage to 2.65v or 2.75v to have a stable system with the faster settings. For optimum settings do the following in the bios in the advanced chipset features menu:
1.) for pc2100 set the dram clock to 133mhz
2.) for optimal dram timing, set to manual
3.) set dram cas latency to 2
4.) bank interleave to4
5.) precharge to active (Trp) to 2T
6.) active to precharge (Tras) to 5T
7.) active to cmd (Trcd) to 2T
8.) leave ddr dqs setting on auto
9.) leave command drive strength on LO
10.) dram command rate on 1T
11.) DCLK feedback delay to 0ps
hope this info from Paul's FAQ will help you as it was helpful to me.
