I used to have a SB Live Value but sold it and got an Extigy because my pump was casuing poping noises. I know lots of ppl on here have there pump like mine:

Do you think if i got a Audigy Platinum EX thats i would get the same poping again. I an redueing my computer sound system and i fell that my Extigy is a limiting factor.

I dont want to really move the pump any closer to my HDD because im paranoid about data coruption.

The Ex sound card would still be inside the tower. Just the connection box would be on the outside.

I know thats what im worried about. Basically what im asking is do you think the audigy platinum card would be less susceptible to makeing the poping sound then the live value. Does anyone have there pump close to there sound card like it would be in my case and have this problem?

If you can wait a couple of days. My waterblock will be in Monday and I can test to see if my Audigy Gamer pops with an Eheim pump.

Are you sure its the pump causing it??

I don't think it's due to your pump man, I have seen a very strange trend with overclocked sb live cards, I know many friends who overclocked with thier sb live and after awhile it started producing popping sounds, I have also experienced this with my old sblive so I upgraded to the audigy, and have had it about 6 or more months and I havn't experienced any popping yet.

I agree, the popping and sblive has been a common problem. Although I'm not saying it not your pump, I think you should rule out everything else before you spend money you don't need to spend.

Well i dont overclock. And whe i had this problem before i moved the pump away from the card and the poping stoped. I did other things and ruled out everythhing but the pump. It never poped till the pump was next to it. So thats when i got the extigy. Problem solved but now i want to upgrade my sound system and since the extigy is holding me back(i think so) i want to replace it but all the better cards are internal so thats why i asked if the audigy platinum would pop too.

correct me if I'm wrong here but isn't the Extigy just an audigy that doesn't need to be plugged in internally? I'm pretty sure they are both the same thing.

12am: The Extigy is an external box connected via USB. The Audigy is an internal card.

MEAT BAG: Try putting the sound card in the PCI slot furthest away from the pump. The noise may be from something else, though, as I would think that the pump would be using a brushless motor thus eliminating noise. Also, try turning the pump around so that the motor is away from the cards.

So far while typing this I'm listening to Wobble Wobble with the Eheim on. So far not a single poppin sound.
