Well I have been thinking and after crunching SETI for about 4 months...I am never gonna get anywhere without a garage full of computers crunching. So I decided that today's problems may need a little solving before ET gets here. Not that I am dumping SETI...I'm just trying something new. Please help me with a few questions:

1) EM3...Best add on program?

2) EM3...Does it interfere with other programs or not?

3) EM3...Is there anyway to Cache Folding units??

Thanks in advance.

1. To me it is the best F@H monitor out right now. There are a couple others but I am currently just using EM3.

2. Not as far as I have experienced. But the new Zone Alarm has caused it to lock hard and crash but that is because the ZA gui was not started for some reason. It took a while to figure out that I had upgraded EM3 and never got the popup from ZA so crash it did.

3. No, there is no caching in F@H. Each WU depends on the one folded before so it would be very hard for them to allow caching of Work Units.

Welcome to the team:D and Good Luck!!!

Welcome to the fold! You'll find advancement in the team ranks easy at first and it will slow as you approach the top 100. If you don't have multiple computers to use for Folding or SETI, try to recruit friends and relatives to fold/crunch on your username.

1) yes

2) Not in my experience. It uses very few cpu cycles to track the progress of the folding client or clients on a LAN.

3) No. Units are time-sensitive. They are needed right away and have a time-limit for usefullness. At best caching would only be good for a few days and so it is not done. Instead you download a new unit when an old one is completed. If there is a problem uploading finished WU's, they are cached and sent back to Stanford as soon as possible.
