Generally speaking, and not taking overlclocking into consideration.... what brand do you think is better, if they were the same price? Micron or Sumsung (DDR)?

youngbuck, not taking into account the overclock potential, almost any brand in the world would be fine, thats because if you get one that will not run under the specs you have the right to return it.
there is no noticeable difference in performance between the cheap generic and the top-brand with both running at the same specs.

Does Crucial count for Micron? After all it is hand picked micron. In terms of brand Crucial is alot better, check on resellerratings.com and you'll see they have one of the highest rating, I believe they offer a cross ship option and a very well organised company.

You have to take into consideration what otto said, the bandwith differences between a premium brand and a generic running at stock is not all that great. In order to choose the right brand, you have to ask about overclocking potential.
