p4 cooling question

got myself an alpha 8942. It was nicely lapped, so i just did 400-600-1000

the p4 is 2.4B, and my case temps are really high atm (cable cleanup needed, and its hot as hell in here) at about 33 degrees. Cpu runs at 40-43 degrees idle, havent checked load. Could the problem be that the bolts arent tight enuff? i looked, seemed to be making great contact.. or maybe is it just that my case is so hot, and that reflects my cpu temps? There is no overclock yet at all.

I'd say that 10 deg above ambient is fairly normal. You won't do much better until you can get that case temp down. Mine is currently running at 37Deg C with an ambient of 25 (case temp). I would be running the same speeds as your 2.4B.

A couple Q's. Did you use a nice thin layer of good thermal compound like AS3? What kind of fan is on your alpha?
