Here is a question for the hard core water coolers out there I was told by a friend that there is 2 different Socket “A” heat sink mounting hole locations, and 4+ hole sizes!?!
I am on my third homemade W/B (1=”Z” shape 2=bowl 3 pin head array….when I finish) and would like to make my blocks universal for any mobo with the mounting holes, so I would like to know for sure the locations of the mounting holes as for the sizes of the holes that shouldn’t matter I have been using 8-32s and figure with a washer it should fit any of them
If you guys could tell me in inches or millimeters the locations of your holes by the board make and model it would be great
Thank you,
Stephen T.

Thank you,
You are correct “36mm X 66mm” hole placement is the same measurements I have been using with “6mm” diameter size holes you wouldn’t happen to know the second set of locations (if there really is one as it was word of mouth)

Should this have been in the watercooling section?

you could always use the report this post to an administrator thingy at the bottom right of your posts and ask if it can be moved.

Simply PM any mod that is on at the time. We are all more than happy to help, just makes it easier if folks will let us know where help's needed :)

i dont remember where i got this pic though
(OCAU i think)
hope it helps
these are not exactly 36x66
probably first producer who introduced them placed them in thses locations to avoid tracks on mobo
this way making accurate mountings is harder (they have to VERY accurate for heavy blocks not to damage cpu & mobo when transporting)
