I have a Canon BJC 620 and a Canon BJC 6000. Both of them need print heads. The 620's is very expensive. The 6000 needs 2 and run about $80.

What causes the printheads to quit working, and can I recondition/repair them myself?

Thanks,

Sherm

i doubt.
im sure there are other causes for them to quit working but one popular is about the dry ink blocking them.
both canon and epson have the print heads built together with the printer, so changing the ink cartridges wont replace the heads. this is not a system for ppl using the printer rarely.

while HP and Lexmark have the print heads built together with the cartridges, so that replacing the cartridges will also replace the print heads for new ones.

so canon and epson printers need to have the print heads cleaned regularly at least, if youre not going to use them.
i would recommend you to consider getting a new printer if youre not a massive user, and if those printers are not high-end ones. you will probably spend about what you would need to get a new one.
