first off is that socket A or P4
second if either the AX-7 ( AMD ) and the AX478 ( P4) are some of the best heatsinks you can buy
you can get a nice heatsink and fan combo with these sinks for around 40 bucks or so depending on the fan

the slk-800 is one of the best. I would get a sunon high output 80mm fan, the one thats under 40db. I think its the best you can get without getting hearing loss.
SLK800 is the best Socket A cooler. It is the best Socket A Cooler as long as you have 40-50 bucks to spare for it, and you need a rather high CFM fan to get the performance shown on reviews.

The slk800 is top of the line for socket a. Check out the review here (http://www.overclockers.com/articles600/).
I recommend the Thermaltake SmartFan II (http://www.thermaltake.com/products/dcfan/a1357.htm) to use in conjuction with your slk800. However, if you have modded your case with say, a window, then you might be interested in the CoolMod (http://www.thermaltake.com/products/dcfan/smartFan2coolMod.htm) for the SmartFanII.
Hope this helps
