Kinda sucks I think. The system is in my sig below. Any suggestions?

Or is that normal?

Yes. Your performance is limited by the SD-RAM, KT133A chipset, and your speed isn't as high as others.

Are there any big ticket settings that will kill a system speed that I could look at readily?

It is a hell of a lot better than my ATI Rage128 though and I am happy with it for now. I just don't want to let speed that is there for the taking go to waste :).

Thanks for the reply btw Yodums. :)

The only setting I know that would help is by checking your bios and seeing if there is a button for buying a ddr mobo and ddr ram. :D

LOL Jawsome. Try looking around your bios to optmise somethings like Video Bios Shadow or something should be disabled, your ram settings should be set to CAS2, Fast Write Enabled...

Im having the same problems man. I am scoring around 4800 on 3dmark2001 with this stock gf4 4200 128meg that i bought yesterday. I think it is because of the CPU i am running it on. It's not the one in my sig, i fried that one and i am waiting on it to be cleared for warranty. Right now im on a Duron 1ghz, and i think it's most likely the thing that is restricting the scores.
If anyone else knows what is the problem then let me (us) know.

I'm not too awful worried. Just an excuse to upgrade.

Check your AGP aperture size in bios settings. It should be at least 64MB. I had same problem, only about 5600 points: AGP ap. was 4MB. Then chanced to 64MB and scored 8520 points!

was able to break the 11,000 mark with my 64MB ti4200

kinda disappointing, I really wanted a better OC... hopefully some heatsinks will help...

I have yet to start to up the FSB on my system. It's still at 100MHz. The temps aren't all that great on my system (48C load) so I was holding off a bit.

Maybe I should start to up the FSB to see if that helps any.

How much can you up the FSB without adding a lot of heat load? Do you only get additional heat load if you up the voltage? Whta does everyone think if possible, 110MHz FSB?

Do you think a higher FSB will make a significant increase to performance or should I just look at getting a better processor?

I don't want to go DDR yet because I need 512MB of RAM for EQ, and a stick of 2100 from crucial is 130 bucks, not to mention the motherboard will run it up to 200 bucks for total upgrade.

I could get a 1600 XP for 54 bucks on newegg. How would the three improvements compare? (Just up FSB for free, get XP 1600 for $55, Get DDR mobo and RAM for $200+)
