View Full Version : Motherboard washers.
With new mobo's you get these little rubber/card like washers, where do these go? Beneath the screw but above the motherboard? Also what do they actually do? i never actually use them but am getting my new bits today :)
Thx

Some motherboards do not have groundplanes (the silver rings) around the screw holes, the paper washers protect the board from the screws, and insulate aginst possible shorts.
so if theres a silver ring should i use a rubber washer?

No, if there ISN'T a ring, you should use a washer. If there IS a ring, you WANT the screw to touch it, so the motherboard is grounded. =)
