overclocking newbie question ALERT !!!

I dont know all that much about hard drives but want to learn more ! for instance, are there ways to overclock them ? i.e. make the rpm a little faster ? increase access times and so on ?

Not that I know of.

In addition, some hard drives do not take well to a highly overclocked computer and can suffer data corruption. I haven't had this problem in quite a while, however.
