at the moment, i THINK i know what i'm getting. here are the stats

Intel Pentium 4 3.02GHz 533FSB 512L2 cache w/Hyperthreading
any QBM motherboard with AGP8X and USB 2.0
single 256mb QBM DDR at 333MHz(times two...thingy, umm....yea)
and 450watt power supply

dont intend on overclocking it the second i get it, so dont say i should. maybe later.

any thoughts?

yea, i've noticed a huge increase from 128 to 256 last year... just that most mobo's i've seen that support 400mhz ddr are only compliant in 2 of 3 or 4 of the slots. rest are 333 and 266mhz. i dont know if the same is for pentium4's with hyperthread....

if i do get 512, ill get 2 chips b/c a single isnt as reliable as a 256

just a suggestion. unless you have alot of hardware experiance u could be running into a living nightmare.undoubtedly the first few products with a new technology is problem laiden.ie: qbm ,dont be a guinypig

and as far as 512mb mem modules.yeh its been said some 512's havent been upto high fsb speeds as 256mb. but it can be harder to get 2-256mb sticks to a high fsb.

its a crap shoot sometimes.its up to you but u need minamum 512mb ram.turn off virtual memory with 512mb's and its a good differance.in my opinion some will arguee that but as for me it works great.

if you're gonna go for a mobo with AGP 8x and you're gonna be waiting a while yet, consider looking into the Radeon 9700Pro. at the moment it has bugs to be worked out but when some solid drivers are available you'll clean-house in 3dMark.

when i get this barebone, ill have a spare $100 or so. not enough to buy a radeon9700pro, but enough to start saving for a new video card.

anyone know when/if nvidia is going to release NV30? is it another mobo like NForce2?

please, dont let it be a $1100 video card like 3DLabs's
