wut makes a eheim superior to a via aqua?
cause they cost about twice as much...

From what I have read one they last longer and for two the are made to run in-line when you buy them.

click my www and find out;)
well i dont know if its a whole lot better than some pumps, but for some reason from what i hear i dont really like them, my fav pump is still the maxi-jet
not as much heat output (if compared to the 1048), slightly more quiet, tend to last a little longer.... THey're not necessarily superior to ehiems, it's just that ehiems offer a little more quality/performance if you're willing to spend the extra $$... ViaAquas are still good though, and darn cheap too! :)

I love my via aqua, it was cheap and puts out awesome pressure and was really easy to setup inline!!!

If I am not mistaken, in the manual for the Via Aqua pump they state that the pump was designed to be run SUBMERGED. This is what keeps me away from them, I do hear great things about them but the reliability of the Eheims can't be touched and they are specifically designed to be run inline OR submerged.

well I love my via 1200 very much, has to be one of my quietest and more powerful pump I have had so far. I can touch it and its warm but hardly enough to make a differense. Also I got it for $20 so I thought it was well worth it, I could buy 2-3 via pumps to the price of one eheim. You do have to use silicon or goop to seal it though or it MIGHT leak. If you dont mind putting in 5mins of your time its well worth the trouble.

That is what scares me about the AquaVia... it has a great GPH and price ratio, however I am sure they didn't put "submerged only" for no reason.
The AquaVia was actually increasing my case temps by a few degrees cuz of the heat it was disapating. :eh?:
so.. i have money..
should i buy me a eheim?

I'd very much recommend it so - they are very reliable, don't run hot, and I get the same temps with this than a 300 GPH pump. If you can, it's completely worth it.
yea.. thx for advice everyone..

great site jon. when you were MSN IM'n me i didn't know it was
your site. shoulda said something, hehe :p
i have owned a maxijet 1250 (i think)
maskedgeek said mine was ugly cuz of all the messy goop
i put on. it was a great pump, no noise, SMALL, really no heat.
i also owned a eheim1250. no noise, pretty big, was hard to
get started (my mistake) but really moved water!
if i did my w/C again, i'd get a 1300 cuz i don't see how an eheim
justifies 3 times the aqua.
