I have been trying to record some TV shows with my TV wonder VE and I cant seem to capture the audio. I have demoed a couple programs and they all seem to have the same problem. The only audio device that they (and probably my system) recognize is the c-media wave and I need to record the line in. Does anyone know how to fix this one? I basically canst select the c-media line in as the input audio.

Well, Do you have another sound card installed in your system or are you just using the Cmedia device?

I have the same setup using a Live 5.1 and it works ok. I have the onboard sound disabled.

Need more info on your setup pleeze:)

Ok, Go into the control panel and double click on the system Icon.

Check the hardware options and see if the Cmedia device drivers are all recognized. You can try reinstalling all the drivers from there.

I tried installing the drivers from the CD and also the latest from the ASUS site, niether of them game me any other options like "line in"....should I be able to select it as "line in" ( I mean, should that be a choice with C-media)?

I might try messing with the drivers again tonight because thats what I thought it might be.

Well, I run the tv card init program and it just shows me the device as the SBLive and in another box it shows me all the input options (Line-in, Aux, Mic, TAD). Also, with the A7V333, it has the option to turn the jacks into a 5.1 output configuration which means you lose the line in jack. Check the cmedia setup config prog to see if that is what has happened. Have you tried using the on the MB on board AUX sound plug using the internal ATI sound connector?

In the programs I ran all it ever said was C-media Wave as the device and the sub menus only had Wav as the choice.

I have the right settings for the jacks because the C-media program is not set for 5.1. I can hear the audio just fine, but it only wants to capture the wave output. If I hit the record button and then go and play some .wav files they are recorded on the capture, but the line in never is.

I havent tried the internal AUX connector, does the VE edition come with an Aux output? Because I dont remember seeing any connectors on the card.

I might just have to scrap the C-media and see if I can dig up my old sound card and see if that works.

Any additional information is appreciated though...

It sounds like a driver issue as I originally ran my TV wonder and the Cmedia onboard sound together and it worked ok. Maybe a reload. Like I said before, check with the hardware manager to see if there are any yellow exclamation marks that indicate an improperly installed device. I know the TV Wonder PCI has a small white socket for audio out if the external line out plug is not used. I dont know about the VE version though.

When you have tried it, then post your results...we should be able to figure this out.

well, I was thinking about doing a fresh install tonight, so maybe I will see if that helps anything. I will post after I try a couple things. Thanks for the help

Hey Hey Hey, I solved my problem and I thought I would post so anyone else with the same problem will be able to correct it.

Solution:
Open the Cmedia mixer (from the taskbar) near the left side of the mixer it says rec (or record, cant remember which) That will tell you the source it is recording from. Change it to Line and you should be all set for your programs to capture the audio with the video.
