Im buying a 2.53 P4 Soon if all goes to plan  , with an Asus P4T-533 Board and 512mb SAMSUNG 4200 RIMM, Its gonna be water cooled by the Koolance PC2-601 And Koolance CPU-200G Block, sWhat could I overclock this to without Frying  it or Pushing to extreem limit? :burn: Do you think it will out perform an Athlon 2400XP+ on the asus A7V8X with 512MB Corsair XMS3200 CL2 RAM?

itl outperform the athlon nonoverclocked i think in most things, in a few things itll b hard for u to outbeat it but u can very likely get 3 ghz out of it if ur pci stays in spec and such, i mean if u can get it to 160 fsb or above and switch 1/5 divider ur system will b in spec and ull have a 3ghz+ overclock, voltagewise dont go over 1.7, or just put it there and overclock as high as it goes.

first I would like to say that some peeps have a hard time running with that mobo at high FSB speeds....say over 155fsb.
( maybe jd can give you a better idea. )

so I would only recamend it for the 100fsb CPU's....say a 1.8a.

also, most cpu's at this time seem to max out at 3.0ghz or so...

some might do 2.9ghz and the newer 2.66 and 2.8 might do 3.2ghz if you are very lucky.

with this in mind, I would say go with the 1.8a for a wopping $150 and OC up to 2.8-2.9ghz.

for the mobo....

go with the bd7II or p4b533 if DDR will do.
or maybe the th7II for RDRAM.

if you still want to try the p4t5333 then you will get about 2.7ghz with this prossesor....about what you will get with the 2.53b.

mabe if your lucky you will hit about 2850mhz with the 2.53b....

also, good luck with your watercooling project....you wont need it with any of the two cpu's mentioned.

Hey bro, im right here on the boat with ya. im contemplating on getting the p4t533 with the 32bit rimm as well. but like alot of peoples are saying, the board is having its share of problems.
im for sure going to get a p4, and am opting for rdram due to its great performance on a p4.

im looking to get a 2.53p4 with the 533fsb. ==can someone explain to me y alot of people are saying that the 2.5p4 with 400fsb is a better ocing solution?==
but more about the mb... the p4t533 is nice but a couple things that are a drawback are-
-no 512+mb rimm 4200 available yet.
-no serial ata
-no agp 8x

speaking of which, when are hd manufacturers going to implement s-ata?
sorry for all the qeustions guys, thanks a lot for any help tho...

last thing tho, im kind of also thinking of just sticking with a ddr solution over ddr. can someone shed some general light on this topic for me-
-can ddr oced get up to par of rdram? how?
-whats the fastest ddr setup for a system right now? money no factor
-lastly, whats the deal with all these cas timings or whatever they are with ddr? competely unfamiliar with this.

thanks again.

Hey mica is it because of the motherboard chipset on that motherboard that will limit him with the 2.53? With a DDR motherboard he should have no problem hitting 3ghz. I'm stable at 3011mhz on air and he's going to be using a watercooling system. I can boot at 3.2ghz and I'm sure if I had watercooling it would be stable at that speed.

Penguinpoo mabey you should look at some good DDR motherboads instead and you'll be over 3ghz. You could get over 3300mb/s bandwith with DDR with a high enough fsb. I did with my 2.26 at 162mhz fsb. My 2.53 is stable at 158 mhz right now (3ghz) and the only thing holding me back right now is my air cooling :( Good luck!

Hope its not Asus... I just ordered a 2.53, XMS3200C2.0, P4B533-E. I hope to hit 3.0 but I haven't decided on an hsf other than retail yet... I want a good balance of quiet and cool (speed) and I keep coming back to water, so until I decide if I want to make that jump into watercooling... what is it? enheim pumps? how many gph? all new stuff to learn.

They're talking about the P4T533 RDRAM board, I haven't heard anyting bad about the P4B533-E DDR board so you should be ok. I'm using air cooling on my rig and its pretty quiet and stable at 3011 mhz. As long as you use a top of the line heatsink you don't have to have a loud high cfm fan and it should stay pretty cool. Good luck!

P.S.: I'm using a 84cfm fan but I have it turned down using a Thermaltake fan speed controller, I turn it up when I'm benchmarking, then its pretty loud. But for normal use its pretty quiet on the medium setting.
