that wouldn't really be unreliable, coz if you move the PC and the copper moves and touches another branch who knows what might hapen, might even blow the chip. a good way IMHO would be using super glue/thermal paste (the white stuff)/crayons to fill the pits, and a rear window deffoger repair kit to connect the L1s, many people have done this w/ great success
is deffoger/rear window repair stuff cheap then?
just wondering coz im in the uk abd the window repair is a lil cheaper than the silver

rear window defogger paint is less than $10 canadian so it should be like 5 pounds

Do they even ship to the UK???
yeah im in uk and paid £8 for my conductive paint, its very expensive but worth it.

If you by Halfords own brand "Heated rear window repair" £8 it is silver and not brown.

I've used defogger paint to unlock over a dozen chips. It's the best. It is about $10 US, though, and it doesn't last forever. I think the applicator gets dried up. I took the applicator completely off the bottle (with the help of two pairs of channel-lock pliers), and I've unlocked five more processors since, just by dipping a toothpick into the bottom of the bottle.

Use the defogger paint along with crayon. Crayon to fill those pits and then the defogger to connect the bridges. Simple and cheap!

I had the tape with tinfoil strips on idea back in april I think, tried it on my XP couldn't get even one different multi to work. Went crosseyed tryna get those itsy bitsy bits of foil stuck on the tape right. Had 3 or 4 attempts, no go. I used defogger repair epoxy, and whiteout to fill the gaps in the end.

If you've got an old calculator lying around, pull it apart and see if it has a rubber strip between the screen and the circuit board. This is an array of conductive rubber strips that makes the contact between the conductive glass paths on the LCD module and the circuit board. Several people have reported that the conductor spacing is just right for the L1 bridges. Tilt a pice to the light a little and you'll see varying colours for the conductive and non-conductive rubber. Some people have reported success using one of these strips taped over the bridges with further pressure from the hsf helpign make the contact good. You need the tape to insulate the top from the metal of the hsf, so don't try wedging it in there without.
These useful little critters occur in cellphones, calculators, some clocks, old digital diaries, just try looking in anything that you don't want that has an LCD screen in.

Cool. I have two locked XP2000's, two dead cellphones, and a couple old calculators sitting around here.
I'll try this and report back my results.
