Instead of buying a kit, I have read that it is cheaper to by the seperate parts at different sites, and doing it your self.

Does you guys have some links of some articles written by known people that made their own solutions? (Even using Swiftech/Koolance parts, just they picked the best parts from each manufacturer). I am willing to go as far as picking up certain parts at the hardware store and assembling anything needed, but didn't want to go as far as cutting my own copper plates and drilling, etc...

Thanks for any advice!

Look around in here. Most of the people have built their own. As for the best blocks swiftech or maze3, pump eheim or via aqua, tubing tygon, rad would be heater core. Here is a look at the Maze3 vs the MCW462-UH (http://www.liquidninjas.com/reviews.php?op=showcontent&id=17) or if you would like to use a pelt here is a review of the Swiftech MCW462-UT (http://www.liquidninjas.com/reviews.php?op=showcontent&id=20)
