For those of you that don't know what Palladium is; Palladium is a kind of security that prevents the computer from running unregistered versions of software, meaning ALL kinds of software.

Man, that is some good news, I know that not all users here are perfectly legal, but that's besides the point, not everyone will want to get a system which has a "thingie" that is implemented into the heart of the system which will not allow SOME of the contents being run. I sure wouldn't want one that might not run some stuff. AMD made the right call.

i have a feeling that if they tried to do something like that, there would be problems with legit software as well...

absolutely true, but i dont know if thats a reason to quit trying. there are better ways than checks in the chips, though.
Just another reason to keep buying AMD.
heres hoping intel decide otherwise with the prescott and everyone buys amd!

Intel may lose a few sales to AMD, but not too many, since there aren't many people who know/care about palladium.

(dont wanna get banned...) comment spotted...
man dont think that way... you must hope that intel wont support it either so MS gets busted LOL and also keep competing with amd so us users get the best stuff, but you are right that such a lame implementation would shoo shoo all the computer g33k community away from intel...
