Is Swiftech quick connections as safe as barbs with clamps? If i buy the kit, i know it will be prefilled. But if i want to add a waterblock or change the tubing with tygon, i must unplug and replug it. If i put silicone in the quick connects, plug all, run it for some times, and redo the tubes, old silicone will be there. Is it cleanable? Do i really need to use silicone? Or do quick connects work fine alone? Or is teflon tape good for quick connects?

Other option would be to replace the quick connects with 1/2" barbs but i'm not sure about the safest thing to do. I consider the CPU and GPU waterblocks. I am tempted by the barebone because the liteon case is great and i cannot find a way to buy it Now so the barebone would give it to me...

I've been using a Swiftech kit, including the quick disconnects since last February and think they are the balls:)

But I would recommend you replace them with barbs and hose clamps (and then send them to me :D)

Seriously: I tinker with this rig quite a bit, and have tried many different ideas out on this system, disconnecting and reconnecting tubing a number of times- if not hundreds, then close to it: zero leaks.
Even though I occasionally yank on them slightly moving my external radiator from inside to outside my window.

You mean you used no silicone and no teflon tape?

The quick disconnects that came with my H202c kit require nothing, and that is what I use: nothing but stick the tubes in.

The fittings in the waterblock and Eheim pump were preinstalled and I have had no need to remove them. All the tees and valves have been removed and reinstalled many times with nothing whatsoever, and again: zero leaks.
