I just bought a BD7-II.
It refuses to start: no beep, nothing.
When I plug the power cord, the green light on the MB is ON.
When I hit the power button, the light turns red for a second
then green again. The fan starts spinning then stops.
On the board, I have only installed a P4 2.4 with the Intel HSF.
There is no RAM or cards plugged.

I have also tried to reset the CMOS. Still nothing.

Any idea what could be wrong ? Is the card dead out of the box ?

Thanks,
Jn

That happened to me on a couple of occasions while messing around with my PC. On both occasions I forgot to plug in my square 4 pin connector from my power supply to my motherboard.

Thanks for the reply.
The 4 pin connector from the power supply is plugged in the MB :(

Any other suggestions?

Hey JN,

I'm not really sure to be honest, I'm the type who just plays around with stuff until I get it right. The first thing that comes to mind is swapping out another board and trying that one.

I am using a 350W power supply.
I have plugged my old P2 motherboard in this case and it works.

I am going to the store this afternoon for a RMA :(

Thanks,

Jn

The store tried the MB and it's running correctly !
They could not test with my cpu or RAM.
As all the parts are new, the guy said it could be anything: a dead cpu, a bad ram, bad PS, ...

Here is what I have:
- P4 2.4GHz.
- 512 RAM DDR 333 Samsung (1 module).
- generic case 350W.

I don't know what to test now.

Is there an known incomptibility between Samsung ram and
abit MB ?

Any idea ?

I will try the ram and the cpu on another PC tomorrow.

Thanks,
Jn

I had the same problem

The cpu is not seated all the way in the socket - This happens especially if you wire pin wrap the cpu - After you first get the cpu in the socket holes push down on the cpu in the center as you close the lever clamp - Then check the corners of the cpu with finger nail pulling up slightly to make sure that they are down & seated properly in the socket

Good Luck

The problem is fixed and it was a bad power supply (not dead but defective I guess). I got it replaced at the store and everything works now !

Thanks,
Jn
