I have a 60 Gig Maxtor 7200 RPM drive that seems to have died on me...well, maybe not died, just went weird...

The drive gets detected in BIOS and Windows sees it as a drive...
however I cannot access it...It just says Cannot Access Drive E:...

I think the data just got corrupted or something cuz i believe i should be able to fdisk/format it...the question is, would there be any way/ programs that will be able to recover my data?

If you're desperate to get the stuff back, you could send it to a data recovery service somewhere. It'd cost a pretty penny, though.

Or, you could spend a bit less (but it'd still be expensive) on some high-power recovery software. I dunno where you'd start, though.

Well...i got a demo of Restorer 2000 and that seems like it can do the trick since its found the entire structure of the HD...the price isnt too bad either...$30 US...i might do that..the question however is whether there are any freeware programs that can do the same thing?
