I got this in 1995, when everyone was using DX-2s, with 4mb ram and a 210Mb Hardisk with a Star 24pin dotmatrix printer.

I still have the monitor which works perfectly and the empty case, thou I am still using the Microsoft mouse for testing.

For a DX4, that's not a bad system...

Bah, in '95 I blew you away :D  Cyrix 5x86-100GP o/c at 120 as soon as I got it, and was considering a CPU blowhole to try and get 150. 10mb of RAM (I had this 2Mb SIMM from somewhere) 4x Aztech CD and soundcard. Okay so I had 2Mb VLB graphics (thrashed any PCI card anyway because I had 'em at 40Mhz), old IBM VGA and 2x40 and 1x170Mb hdds and no modem, but I had the only system in my university dorm that could run DukeNukem3D full detail and be able to tell there were earthquakes etc. (Though that might have been more into early 96 by then) worked good in the 800x600 VESA mode when I finally tracked down a VBE 2.0 driver. Got a 1.6G drive in it later in 96. Still using that drive in a K6-2. Still got the drivers and etc for that system on it, LOL. Also had 20Mb by mid 96. Then came quake, and the summer, and everyone had pents when they came back, but I was the only guy with a 486 class who could play it... ... ...

I didn't spend near that much though. in UKP
100 Multimedia Kit soundcard/CDROM
100 for CPU and mobo combo
40 for one 4mb stick, 50 for the other.
20 for case, 15 for i/o, 30 for gfx, used drives 20, monitor 20, keyboard 5, speakers through stereo, mouse 5
sso 405 UKP=approx 650 dollars
and later '96 110 1.6Gb, 55 16Mb
= approx 250 US

Now if you'd've had a dx2 in 94 you'd have owned me, I only had a 386sx40 then. :D

That monitor, costed me $600. You must know that over here prices are a bit more expensive from USA, an OEM 64mb Radeon 8500 costs about $160.

Hey Roadwarrior, 2x 170Mb hds !!! I had more than double your space plus I had a modem to connect to the net ;)

Yeah I was always tight on HDD space, until I got the 1.6G. Didn't get a modem until 97, didn't really need one. Then I started off with a 14.4, until I got a 28.8 for cheap. Had fast connections on the PCs in the university, most stuff you could download would go on one disk or you could span it across a few, ICQ was a newborn then. Had a 6 figure ICQ number at one point after 2 weeks figuring out how to get it to work with compuserve, then windoze died and I reinstalled and got a real ISP. :D
