did you run the boot-vis optimizer again after installing the SP?

It's you. I just put the SP_1 on two machines last week and they
actually seem a little faster to boot & run.

Who knows; something might be wrong.

Sorry, shouldn't have presumed everyone knew it.

Bootvis is a small tool made by Microsoft to speed up the boot process in XP. It is just the one executable. Put it in a folder, and let it analyze your system. Then set it to optimize, and you will notice the difference :) Be sure to time your boot times before and after. Please let us know if that did the trick.

Bootvis optmizes your bootup times and stuff but I reckon that it doesn't work for RAID arrays. It's best to format and install the SP after the Via 4in1 if you have the chipset. If you don't have the Via chipset, it should be the first thing to install. Installing it on a rather used Windows is just as bad as doing an upgrade install. Try it ;)

Forgot to mention, if you let your system hibernate instead of turning it off and reboot completely each time, you get into Windows way quicker too.

Enable Hibernation through the Control panel --> Power Options --> Hibernate. If you press turn off computer, wait for the menu, press shift, and the yellow button will give you the hibernate option :D

I installed SP1 Express last night and after all the files were installed, it prompted me to reboot. I did that and well, it took *forever* to boot up, and when it finally did I got a "this system has recovered from a serious error" message. It's been okay since then, weird!

SP1=reboot=serious error?

LOL :D

is bootvis compatible with RAID...everytime i try to do the optimize system, it gives me a "timeout trying to start service" error and i know i have both task scheduler and com+ running.

the trace boot is the one that i get the physical drive 0 error
