Laptop times?

Recently picked up a used laptop, a Gateway P3 450, for some tuning for the car. Finally got around to putting S@H on it, figuring the times would be thru the roof. Finally finished a wu and boy was I shocked: 13.75 hrs. Not bad considering my cely 400 has em done in abt 16-17 hrs. Anybody else see these kind of times out of their slow laptop?

My Dell P3 850 takes about 8 hours.

Not bad at all...I've got an old Compaq (not a laptop) with a PII 400 that is only about an hour better than that.

My Compaq 1.13 Ghz PIII does a .417 AR WU in 4.8 hrs.

My Dell Latitude C610 1 GHz PIII-M averages just a few minutes over 5 hours.

Looks like I should of dished out more cash for a better machine. O well, dont need it much for anything anyway :)

Don't feel bad- my boss bought me a BRAND NEW Toshiba 1 ghz mobile celeron laptop- times are in the same range!

(Its in the bench data: 14.01 hours!)

There is no sense in buying a Celeron for a business system when you can negotiate a PIII for the same price.

My mom's sending me a laptop in the mail. She doesn't know what it is, but it's 2-3" thick. What kind of WU times do you think I can expect from it? ;)

my GF's SONY Athlon4 1GHz ave. in the 5hr range. and i was fixing my friend's Compaq PIII650 laptop and did a benchmark wu on it. rank 98 -- 9.923hr for our benchie wu.

just for you guys' interested, i ran SETI on a few new P4-M laptop (mainly toshiba) from my friend's store (can't name him but he's a owner of a chain-type computer store), man they are FAST!!! those P4-M range from 1.8-2.2GHz. the 2-2.2GHz could ave. in the mid to high 3hrs range!! and i saw they dip down to almost 2hr range w/ high ARs!!

My cele notebook does a unit in about 11-12 hours which is fine by me... Man, when those low AR's came tho....!!!! I was looking at about 15+ hours!!!! :mad:

have anyone seen the SONY VX88 laptop? man, my dream machine. 1" thick, weights in 3lbs, builtin 802.11b, and unlike other ultra light laptop, it has a 14" "real" screen!! tested one at my home's wireless network (how 'bout sitting at the backyard on a sunday afternoon ;) ) too bad they only has a PIII-M 850; if they got anything faster, i would seriously consider.....;)
