I've been having problems browsing web pages with ie. I will be happily browsing and then all of the sudden - nothing. My aim still works fing. I check netstat and anything going out to http is time wait. I can ping all over the place, but can't connect. Have since downloaded netscape and no problems yet, but its only been a few hours.
Do you have all the latest updates to IE? Try going to Windows update.
Are you on cable or dsl? If so do you have a router? I've seen IE do this sort of thing with a Linksys router. Closing IE and logging off, then back into your profile may fix it.

yeah, i'm on a linksys router. My comp freezes up when I try to log off and on. But thats all piddly snot compared to where I am now. I installed ie6 and now my desktop won't load. I get a start menu and task bar, but no background, and no desktop icons. I'm annoyed. At least I can get netscape open. I dare not try to open IE. I've recently reinstalled win2k to try to fix some other problems. I think i'm going to be reformatting pretty soon. My computer has been through many hard restarts today and I hate stressing it. I hate murkysoft.
Is you computer overclocked?

yes its overclocked, but not by much. XP1600 @ 1470. I seem to have problems wether its overclocked or not. The desktop loaded. Just took its sweet time. (like 5mins) Ok, i just tried to open a page in ie and - nothing. Any ideas?
You're not installing windows with the system overclocked right?

actually i think i did, didn't know that was bad. Never had problems doing it in the past but that was a pentium system.
As a rule of thumb I try not to install an OS while the system is overclocked. Sometimes you might get a small file corruption that goes unnoticed until the rig is up and running - then you're plagued by strange problems that you can't quite nail down. Just a thought.

that sounds logical to me. Do you take things back to stock speed when installing software too or just the os?
