Im going with a P4 2.53 soon (If the prices fall enough I might get a 2.8 in OCT), and XMS3200 CL2 RAM, I;ve heard the Abit IT7-MAX2 Board is good, But In you opinion, whats the best P4 DDR Motherboard ... Cost aint an Issuie, And I want above all reliability and the ability to Overclock to 3GHz! I'll be using the Swiftech Q-power case. Do P4's run as hot as Athlons?

I love my IT7-MAX, it oc's well and is faster then MAX2 since it has no legacy ports!

P4's run significantly cooler then athlons, but the Abit IT7 series seems to report temps about 7-10C too high

yep TASOS is absolutely right. asus is known for stability. the P4B533 uses the intel 845E chipset so you're good to go there. however the asus folks have a nifty new board out called the P4S8X. it's got AGP 8X and supports pc2700 ddr. it looks like an awesome board but it's chipset is made by sis and i don't know enough about them to recommend them

I can tell you My Abit BD7-II Raid is rock stable and always has been (Since Mr. Naturals Bios ;0) And in includes the integrated RAID if you are interested. Both have the lame passive aluminum heat sink on the i845 (witch allows temps of 48c) For $10 you can buy a http://www.thermaltake.com/products/chipset/tiger.htm After lapping the lame contact surface (full of ridges and was anodized), using AS3, and changing the fan to a better 20mm x 20mm I found at a computer show) My temps dropped to 34c!

I also have to recommend the ASUS P4B-533 series, based ofcourse on my own experience.:D

The only thing holding me back right now is my memory. More money, more money, more money!

or BD7II .. my P4B533 had some kind of voltage protection above 1.65v (and I think all P4B533 family do), so if you need more, even if you set your bios to 1.85v let say, it won't actually boot with 1.85v until it passes the POST test... I don't think you'll have a problem with 2.53 hittin' 3giga.. all what you need is 158fsb...

why does the IT7 cost so much more than the BD7II, the specs seems very similar.
