what wrong wit my cdrom

my cdrom drive wound read anything whats wrong

well i put in the cd and it looks like its about too read it and then it stops. I go to mycompter and lookat the drive and it says insert disk

Is it just one cd that isn't working? Have you tried to stick in other cds to see if they're read?

Verify that it happens with any CD to discard the possibility of bad media (as already suggested).
Make sure CD unit appears as working correctly in the device list, to discard possibility of wrongly configured drive.
Then verify/reseat IDE connectors (I assume power connector is OK since you see the led flashing when inserting CD)

Failing all of this, I'd give a head clean ....
Then try the unit in another PC....

And declare your CDROM officially dead if all of above fails.
