I'm currently working on turning my dying pentium2 233MHz into a linux server. Obviously, it won't be the most powerful thing in the world, so I'm looking to give it a little extra juice by way of a new hsf. I found some pentium2 heatsinks for sale in the classifieds, but they are SECC2 and my cpu is SECC3.

Anyone know the difference between the two and how easily you can fit a SECC2 heatsink to a SECC3 cpu?

No pic, but my last post in this (http://forum.oc-forums.com/vb/showthread.php?s=&threadid=94367&perpage=30&pagenumber=2) classifieds thread pretty much gives my description as to how the heatsink attaches. The pdf I posted in my origional post in this thread is where it mentions secc 3.0

ah ok.
i think you've misunderstood the naming of SECC.
there is SECC and SECC2. but there are different revisions of SECC. (personally i wasn't aware of this, but this is what i can tell from looking at that .pdf file)

you have a SECC rev3 PII. i'm unable to find what differences there are with the SECC revisions. and i'm not familar with the way you described how your heatsink attaches.
it might be an OEM heatsink.
my PII heatsink is bolted to a heatplate, and the heatplate has four pins going through the PCB and is held on with metal clips on the back. in the pic of the heatsinks in that forsale thread, the one at the top right is how my heatsink attaches.(i believe that hsf is the alpha)
it might pay to pull your PII apart and see if yours is the same.
