View Full Version : Radiator beneath modded PSU?
I want to watercool my Antec mid-tower case, but I've been having a lot of trouble deciding where to put my radiator because I don't want to lose my extra 3.5" drive days.
I'm thinking about hanging it right below my PSU, horizontally, so it exhausts upwards into the power supply. Any potential problems with this setup?
I've got an Antex 430 True Power, and if I did this I would additionally consider switching out one of the 80mm fans with a 120mm. Anyone have any experience with this?

Why not do the typical. Cut a blowhole and mount it there?

if you did that where would the intake air come from, if it was from inside the case, the air would be at least a few degrees higher than ambient, so not the most efficient. Maybe if it was ducted in form the side og th case?
Thanks for the advice. Is it that much better to suck the ambient air through my radiator? I know my CPU will run cooler, but won't my case temps be higher?
As an alternative, what if I mounted the fan on the bottom of my case and sucked air from underneath? There's only about 1" of clearance under the case. Will that be a significant problem?

Could you move the power supply up?
I raised mine to the top of the case, leaving a 2 X 7 exaust port below the power supply. The heater core is just below the port. Fresh air could then be ducted in from the side or front of the case, the farther from the exaust the better and forced throught the core.
I use a blower to push air through the case before exiting through the heater core. That means the air going through the heater core is pre-heated 5 deg C. (full case) Yea, fresh air is better.
That's a pretty good idea! I'll think about that...
