What equipment would I need to get hold of to get accurate on die temp readings of my cpu? I am intending to oc my xp1600 as far as I can but do not trust the in socket thermistor readings reported by MBM and want to keep a close eye on my temps.

Buy a thermister thingy from radio shack or some palce like that,, one that has a sensor on one end of a wire and the readout on the other end. than stick it on the CPU die put the heatsink on it and read the temp with that, tho i would not run for very long with that becasue it might interfear with contact between the CPU core and the HSF. But that will give you the actaul temp, use that to set the ofset on MBM5 so it gives you the correct readout.

That is a really good and simple idea! I can honestly say I don't think I would have thought of that :$

It took me a while to get it all straight myself, ubt having used the Abit obards, with the bad temp sensors that never read accurate, I tend to have to compensate. although I kindof have a feel for my board, like 45C is good n cool 50 is gettin a bit hot and 60 is starting to cross the danger zone for my board's temp reporter.

glad tobe of service and wealcome to the forums.
