well Mad Butter, for starters, dont ever listen to anyone who actually takes tomshardware seriously :D
now then, i think about half the board here uses 8500's, i for one have used 3 different cards in various machines and have had 0 problems with them.. they are a great card, and ever since ati got its drivers all worked out, they're pretty hard to beat value wise.. 90shipped there abouts from www.newegg.com for an LE, which you can overclock to retail 8500 lvls very easily. i'd go with that and spend the money on another game or something :)

R8500 DID have driver issuesd at it's release. The hardeware was strong, but the drivers at release sucked, and ATI caught major he** for it.
Since about the middle of the R8500's life, the drivers have been stable and offered high performance, along with many options in their control panel.
Very stable, and they keep squeezing more and more perfromance out of this card. I mean, it actually outperforms the Ti4600 w, full aniso on both cards! If you like MOHAA, you will be blown away by how much sharper the textures become. Although, in some games, aniso is a waste of time.
But anyway, it's a great card, and the only folks knocking the "drivers" don't currently own one.......
