As people who _never_ have seen our new products already have begun to comment and write false statements about the new generation VapoChill we have chosen to write this thread.
First of all - some people in various foras compare our whole cooling unit with the specs of just a compressor, which of course is something that is not possible and 100% wrong to do. The choice of compressor doesn't say _anything_ about the performance about the complete cooling system, but only about how much the compressor itself can move. Flow, capillary tube, charge of coolant etc. can be tweaked and varied a lot, why compressor performance doesn't equal system performance. Several asetek employees used to work for Danfoss (the compressor manufacturer), why we know how these numbers are obtained and how these things work.
Compared to the old VapoChill _significant_ changes have been applied, why one can't compare the old and the new systems in _any possible way_. People that continue to do this is either trying to speak bad about the VapoChill or doesn't know any better about cooling and our new generation products.
The new Standard Edition (SE) can remove 130W of heat at -5'C and the new Premium Edition (PE) can remove 160W of heat at -5'C. These values are measured in the bottom of the evaporator, and can (of course) not be compared to the datasheet of a compressor... No one compares a whole car to a data sheet for an engine... The only right way to compare this to another cooling system is by applying the same tests, and measure the same place. Same goes for CPU speeds, you have to use the same CPU in all cooling systems in order to be able to comment on it.
As you can read on our frontpage only one reviewer did that, and the result speaks for itself... Sure some of you don't believe it, and we supplied them free systems and whatever, but we don't care, as we know what's right and wrong.
The new VapoChill cooling systems are capable of removing at least the same amount of heat as both previous and current competing products (we have tested all solutions on the market. No one else have done this, as shipping of our new systems just started) Maybe in some cases, the evaporator temperature will be a bit higher on our systems, as we have chosen not to use a huge and over sized compressor.
The reason why we haven't chosen a really big compressor is described in the following:
1. Weight - VapoChill weighs between 10 and 20Kg less than other solutions
2. Size - we believe that size does matter... VapoChill is the smallest and most integrated solution on the market.
3. Design - by using a tiny compressor we are of that opinion that we can get a substantial better design, where we don't need two metal boxes on top of each other like all previous solutions.
4. Features - by using a 12VDC compressor it's possible to control the compressors performance/noise level via software/ChillControl, diagnose the cooling system via the compressors electronics/ChillControl etc. There are no risks of getting electrical shock when tweaking the system as the highest voltage is +12V. The units are useable world wide independent of wall outlet. Because of this we find the small 12VDC compressor much more elegant, than its clumsy big brothers.
5. Power consumption - Under full load the new VapoChill uses up to 100W (!) less than other solutions.
6. Performance - in cooperation with ASUS Taiwan and others we have tested a _big_ number of CPU's and different motherboards, and again and again it shows that -15'C is more than sufficient to reach max possible CPU-speed in 99,9% of the cases. Our internal study's show that you have to go down to approximately -200'C in order to see some significant improvements in CPU-speed above what -15'C can bring you. This is also what you can see with people playing around with LN2. But when getting this kind of cooling you push the limit to the motherboard, and increased signal noise from the chipset due to FSB overclocking etc. Because of this we don't see any reasons at all to use a bigger compressor (If we didn't believe this was the truth, we would of course have used another compressor, as we have plenty of room in the case etc.) For sure in some rare cases and "lucky" CPU's (300A) it can be different, but we need significant test results in order to ever change our design guidelines.
7. We believe that it's CPU-speed that counts, and not what's showed in the display. And IF people want to pay for it we do make a model that goes all the way down to -30'C (SE).
8. Price - VapoChill is by far the cheapest refrigerated cooling system ever on the market. The SE doesn't cost much more than high-end water-cooling.
9. ChillControl - along with a full integration of the compressor we have developed a ChillControl that can control noise from the cooling system, noise from the case, cooling of hard drives, measurement of case temperature, showing in both Celsius and Fahrenheit etc. etc...
10. We strive to make the best possible product - and not solely the best cooling system. We (and other companies as well) could of course do a cooling system that cooled even more, but there are a lot of other aspects than just temperature coming into the picutre.
Of course we do respect and welcome that some customers chose from other things than just our design guidelines, and because of that it's good that there are other solutions on the market. Some people buy cars just from the maximum speed in the speedometer.
Whether one like the VapoChill or not is a question about taste and thereby subjective things. However we saw that people made a mix of subjective things and facts, why we wanted to clarify these things. All statements above are facts and not questionable. People stating else wise about the above mentioned statements from 1-10 are false. As mentioned we have several engineers who used to work for Danfoss (the compressor manufacturer) and we are the company behind the VapoChill products, why we hopefully should know best about our own technologies
