View Full Version : will the new 64 bit version of win. run on an alpha cpu?

im wondering if the new 64 bit version of windows will run correctly on an alpha cpu? and if not what 64 bit chips does it run on? and finally can anyone tell me where i can find someone who still sells the alpha version of windows nt?

I would try compaq/hp. as far as I know they are the only place that would really be selling it. if you are really interested, I do security for a compaq site and I can ask if I could purchase one for you.

I think the NT CD-ROM comes with all versions for all architectures. Not 100% sure though

I lost this thread a while back. NT4.0 the full retail version or oems that I have all have the alpha installs on them.

Some of the ver's of NT do not include the Alpha coding. Where I admin we have five CD's of NT server 4.0 one of which is labeled "Alpha Version" I have also tried to pop in a Win2k CD, to see if it would upgrade the alpha, nope, got to buy a special copy for that too.
