well, it sounds like your l1 bridges aren't 100% connected correctly.

Pencil might not be the best way to connect them up.

I used rear window defogger repair kit stuff to connect up my bridges and it worked really well.

I picked mine up at an auto parts store. Cost me about 8 bucks or so.

What's the stepping on your 1 gig?

Dood, use a pencil. Its probally will be free for you and nothing is better on t-birds than good ole pencil.

Stick to the old Venus or Dixon pencils however, since no name brand pencils sometimes dont work.

You can always use an 0.5mm mechanical pencil, I use those and the work GREAT usually I get 'em from the first shot, second at most. Just needs a nice amount of graphite on there

personally I think using a pencil will get you a poorly unlocked chip.

Conductive paint is a far more reliable method.

Anyway, whatever technique works for you... go for it.

My processor is 1 1/2 years old and the pencil trick worked on my first try. No need for conductive paint or any other technique for that matter.

BTW, I did a sloppy job unlocking my CPU as you can tell by the very smudgy pencil marks ;)

Its all good.

So basically, what you are saying is I don't know what i'm talking about?

Gees. i'm just trying to help the guy get his chip unlocked. Simply offering a point of view, that's all.

noew,

you know exactly what your talking about and you are correct. The only difference in opinion is, Pencil is 99.9% chance to be free of cost so he wont have to make a run to the store or whatever.

Sorry about the way I said my bit, its just that both my CPU and my sisters CPU unlocked on Pencil very easy.

honestly, I used a cheaper brand pencil on my sisters athlon and it took several trys to successfully unlock. She also has a B Athlon where as I got the C version.
