I would just like input on what you guys feel the "safest"/easiest way to unlock an XP 2000+ I really just need reassurance that it isn't all too hard I don't have money to replace the chip but I really really really really really really wanna be able to change the multipliers but I am soooo chicken :(

I'm a newbie myself, but, if you don't have the $$$ to replace the CPU I would advise waiting till you could.
...just my $0.02 worth.

Naw, just tape everything up really good, and everything will go fine. Actually, looking at your speed, I wouldnt unlock it.

i dont think that sounds like good advice to me what about airflow in your case. if u tape everything up in case it would be bad. but if u are gonna tape it up make sure u use really good duck tape lol :D

what are you scared about what is the worst thing that can happen?
if you fail at it and your mobo does not post than just get some rubbing alchlohal and start again. it is really easy and if you use the crayon method takes 10 mins max

Its not that hard really. There are plenty of sites and info on how to do it.
I can do it perfectly but since I scraped the coating of near the connections the 2nd and 3rd ground out.
I have taped and covered the copper thats exposed but I cant get the connection small enough.
My advice, only clean it with something soft. Dont use something hard that can exposed the copper top.
I think nail polish remover and a q-tip work great.
Take your time.
