I have an AMD Athlon XP 2200+ on an MSI KT3 Ultra 2 with an SLK-800 HS with 80mm 50CFM Sunon fan I have 5 Case fans (7 if you include powersupply) in a Cheiftec Full Tower Dragon Case 3x80mm in the front 2x80mm in the back my case temp is 28C and my CPU temps are 27C Idle and 29C LOAD!!!!!!! (as reported by MBM 5.1 and the PC Alert III that came with my mobo) I am utterly baffeled am I lucky or are these measurements off by a BIT!!!! I can't tell, My room is very cold because I have 2 fans blowing into my room from outside. My room is like upper 50's in Farienhight it's cold but thats the way me and my roomie like it. So are these accurate or should I add like 10C.

I would say with that room temp those temps are about right my temps are lower somtimes to it all depends on the room temps

I may be COMPLETELY off base here... but I thought that real CPU temps remain over (or is it maybe AT) ambient temperature. Again, not real sure there, but those are some sweet temps you got going there. Better than me and watercooling.

Maybe I should go to air, and get a room size freezer. :p

ehh.. i think ur in socket thermistor is not touching the back of the cpu or something of the sort.. temps way too low ther :)

I think u might be reading the case temp...not the CPU temp. Might wanna double check that.

it's impossible for the cpu to have a lower temp than the air temp in the case. unless you're using water cooling or similar.

this is because the heatsink can only cool as low as the air temp in the case.

that 28C is in the lower corner of the board, far from the cpu. the air reaching the cpu could be far cooler considering he has a 55ishF room temp (13C!!!!). i think its probably right

in that case, it is possible.
it's just not a very accurate indication of the case temp then.

Well that was at night in Massachusetts so it was really cold. Now it's daytime and it says my motherboard temp is 29C and my processor temp is 30C this is great I'm gonna have to start o\cing this beast.

Absolutly possible, i have pretty much same case, fans setup as you, and correct me if i'm wrong i think my 2100+ should run hotter than your 2200.

Anyway, right now my temps are Case(Mobo sensor) 22 Celsius
And Cpu 30 Celsius idle.
Now my Volcano7+ is not as good as your Slk800, so your temps seems right on the money. Btw, i have a duct going from front intake directly to cpu, this helps cpu temps AND lowers case temps significantly. :)

Ambiant is 70 Farenheit.

Dude, I think it's reading wrong. I'd love to say it was reading right and congradulate you. But, IMO, your temps are way too low at load to be correct. I could me completely off base and you may be under 30°C under load, but personally I wouldn't trust the software.

Agreed. It is -impossible- to get your CPU to idle under your case temps because it is using that air to cool the chip. Not to mention the 2200+ is hot as heck.

I should leave my window open when it -30deg cel in the winter. I wonder how low my temps could go. Hmmmm. I wouldn't be want to be in the room though to find out
