View Full Version : Trouble with KDFold?

I just started folding for the team and *thought* I had everything setup right, but I'm having trouble. I followed the instructions on this site for setting up the text client, etc. I ran that and then used hideitx with the -hide tag, which hid the client.

After that, I d/l'd KDFold, ran it, set it to the FAH work directory, and let it go. It seemed to stop at the end of the second frame (one frame had already completed before I installed KDFold) and everytime I switch to the setting screen, etc. in KDF, the frame starts over. Is this normal?

I guess I just want to check and make sure I set everything up right so I can set it up on my other computers.

-Thanks :)

I don't use KDfold so I can't tell you anything definite about it but it sounds to me as if the client is being hidden from the monitor while in the hideit mode.

Well, I did some digging and found that hiditx was taking up 50% of my processing time. I shut it down and everything looks good. Now just to get my computers to recognize each other so I can monitor them all :D

Thanks for the reply JetMech.

Just be sure to give the monitoring PC write access to the F@H work directories on the PC's that you are going to monitor. Giving KDFold mearly read access to a shared directory won't cut it.

I just started using KDFold a few days ago, so far so good. I'm lovin' the FTP'ing of stats!

Good luck

Ah, ok. That should solve my problem. Now if I just had a KVM switch so I didn't have to unplug everything :D

Its all about VNC (http://www.uk.research.att.com/vnc/)!!

Save your money on a KVM and all those cables and download it for free. It works cross platform, and is a cinch to set up. I use it on all my rigs at home (even a Linux box). Just like a KVM 'cept its a little slower.

I might check that out. I heard its a little slow though, and I'll still be doing a decent amount of work on the other computer.
