New motherboards from Abit....one, the SI7, is rambus and uses the SIS 658/963 chip set.
It's due in november...read here. And about the chipset here and here. :D
Looks like it's for 16bit rambus supporting pc800 and pc1066.

This may mean I stay with rdram but what about my Th7II.
No I can;t part with it you can't make me:(

I'll just have to build another system:D

Poor TH7II, I love mine too!
According to the spec list at the Abit forum, theres no raid listed. I know this is a moot subject right now, but I hope they add it.

One more artical. :D

Market said it had 2 ATA standard, and 2 SATA serial connectors, I wouldn't think that it'd 4 ATA connectors without raid. But he didn't mention raid.

The SI7 is near!!!

"The ABIT SI7 supports up to 4 GB 1200/1066MHz RDRAM memory capacity and fully supports AGP8X interface for powerful graphics chips. In addition, the SiSR658/963 chipsets are also equipped with powerful multimedia functions, including 5.1 Channel AC'97 2.2 Audio, 10/100MB Ethernet, Home PNA2.0 and Dual ATA133/100/66 IDE Channels, six USB 2.0/1.1 ports, and three 1394a ports, which can fully meet the high end PC requirement."

sis is normally very value oriented, even with high end platforms. i cant imagine it being anywhere near the price of the granite bay boards.
my th7ll is getting in the 37-3800 mem bm range. can you imagine this thing cranked up with a couple of pc1200 sticks in it?
oh yeah, rdram aint dead yet.

Do ya think it will use the 800 mem???
Will use only 32 bit memory, your old pc800 won't do. What the heck is Home PNA2.0? Anyone know?
I can't wait to see a compairison against Granite bay!:D

Was hoping I could use it until I got enough cash for the 1200.
Are you sure I thought it was just faster. The 1066 is the same as the 800. Interchangable??? So wouldn't it just run slower????
Maybe?

Sorry charlie, the SI7 uses the 4200 type rims where you only need to fill one slot.

Nuff said thankyou.
I was on the Rambus site. Real confusing. there are 16,32,64 bit modules and Well I'll have to go back there some day when I gots more time.

That's really to bad... I was really loking forward to this board when it was supposed to support my old rdram. Now that they've changed the specs on me, and I can't use the extra pc800 sticks I've got laying around, I'm going to have to skip this board :(

Hopefully the SI7 will: 1)support the Prescott with an 800 + Mhz FSB. Or will later. 2) overclock well with the Northwoods. 3) have an AGP/PCI lock. 4) work well with different brands of memory and video cards. 5)have Vdimm and Vcore adjustments in useable increments. 6) be stable and reliable.

Latest word is mid to late febuary. :D I think if the board will run over 200 fsb then it may support Prescott.
